Booking

In order to sign up for one of our journeys (usual party size is 15 - 20 travellers) you will need to complete an application form and pay a deposit of between £150 and £250 depending on the trip (though deposits may be larger for private journeys of less than 10 travellers). If you have requested a detailed itinerary for one of our trips on-line then you will automatically be sent out a detailed itinerary, a copy of Distant Horizons’ Terms and Conditions and a link to complete an application form online.

If you have any doubts about the suitably of a journey, we would strongly recommend that you call our office on +44 (0) 151 625 3425 before signing up for a trip. Many of our trips involve travel to more remote parts of the world, and our staff are happy to describe the trips and answer any questions you may have. We do feel it is important that you have as much relevant information as possible and that you are well-prepared with a realistic set of expectations before making your final decision to join one of our very unique journeys.

When we receive your online application form, we will acknowledge it and then send a confirmation of your place and how to pay the deposit for the trip.

Approximately 70 days prior to departure we will send out your final invoice along with relevant travel notes for the area you are visiting and full information on obtaining visas for your trip.

Final documents, including airline tickets, hotel information, final itineraries, lists of travellers and luggage labels, are sent out approximately two weeks before travel.

Covid Travel Policy

Distant Horizons Covid Travel Policy is to follow Local or UK Covid Travel restrictions which ever are the more onerous and in addition to ONLY organise travel on the basis that:

  • All travellers are fully vaccinated including any relevant ‘booster’ vaccinations
  • There is no requirement to isolate;
    • On entering any country in the itinerary
    • On returning to the UK
    • On coming into contact with someone who tests positive whilst travelling in a country
  • There are no significant travel restrictions in a country that means we cannot run the trip as described (sightseeing, hotels, meals, etc).
  • There are no UK government advisories against travel to any given country in an itinerary

In the event that Distant Horizons is not able to operate the trip because of any need to isolate, travel restrictions or government advisories (as described above), Distant Horizons will cancel the trip and a full refund of all monies paid (including deposits) to Distant Horizons will be made within 5 working days of the cancellation decision. A decision to cancel a trip for these reasons will usually be made not less than two months before departure.
